Welcome to the IELTS Speaking Practice Module. This module is designed to help you prepare for the speaking section of the IELTS test by simulating the three parts of the exam.

Part 1: Introduction and Interview (4-5 minutes)

In this part, the examiner will ask you general questions about familiar topics to assess your ability to communicate simple information and express opinions on everyday issues.

Part 2: Long Turn (3-4 minutes)

In this part, you will be given a topic card (Cue Card) and one minute to prepare before speaking for one to two minutes. The examiner may then ask one or two follow-up questions.

Example Cue Cards:

You should say:

  • who this person is
  • how you know them
  • what qualities they have

Describe a place you visited that you liked.

You should say:

  • where it is
  • when you visited it
  • what you did there
  • and explain why you liked it.

Describe an object you own that is important to you.

You should say:

  • what it is
  • how you got it
  • how often you use it
  • and explain why it is important to you.

Describe a skill you would like to learn.

You should say:

  • what the skill is
  • how you would learn it
  • why you want to learn it
  • and explain how you think you would feel after learning it.

Part 3: Discussion (4-5 minutes)

This part involves a two-way discussion with the examiner about abstract issues and concepts related to the topic in Part 2. You will need to express and justify opinions, analyze, and discuss issues.
